Malvaceae
Life Cycle / Type
Annual or perennial (behavior dependent) · Broadleaf
Mallow is a low-growing broadleaf weed with round, scalloped leaves and a prostrate growth habit that can form dense mats. It spreads by seed and, when established, by a deep taproot, making it persistent in turf, landscapes, and disturbed soil. This weed can behave as both an annual and a perennial. Pre-emergent herbicides may reduce new seedlings but will not control existing plants.
Mallow seeds germinate during cool soil conditions.
