King Ranch bluestem is a coarse, aggressive perennial grass with upright clumps, bluish-green leaves, and tall seedheads. It spreads by seed and a persistent crown and quickly displaces desirable turf and native grasses. It is commonly found in pastures, roadsides, fence rows, and unmanaged areas, and can invade thin lawns. This is a perennial weed. Pre-emergent herbicides do not control existing perennial weeds.
